Carriers Encouraged to Fill Out CA-1's

Information from our Region 12 National Business Agent has indicated that carriers should complete a Department of Labor form CA-1 if they contracted COVID and believe that they contracted it at work. This form is familiar to some, as it is the same one that is used for on=the-job injuries. For specific instructions on how to fill out a CA-1 for this purpose, click here.

Plan Comparison Tool Available to All Employees

The Office of Personnel Management offers a plan comparison tool, which displays side by side comparisons of benefits, rates, and other information regarding health plans available to government employees.  Up to four plans can be compared at once to give employees the ability to quickly inform themselves and make smart decisions for their ongoing healthcare options.  While the tool can be navigated from the DOL home page, I have preloaded the options for bi-weekly pay and postal employees which can be accessed by clicking here.  If you want to change the preloaded zip code of 19602 (which, in nearly all cases will give the same results for all members of Branch 258), simply go to the web address bar and edit the zip code where it appears.

Open Season for Health Plans, Flexible Spending is Active

Picture
Open season for selecting health care is active from November 9 through December 14, 2014.  This is the opportunity for any letter carrier to review and make changes to your health care coverage options, as well as for vision, dental, and flexible spending account choices.  All carriers are encouraged to engage in the NALC benefit plan, which provides the most effective coverage of our many options.  This is made possible by the large and increasing number of participants which give the plan the power to negotiate affordable rates with providers, as well as the non-profit reality of the NALC plan, which gives it a competative advantage over other plans in keeping premiums down.  CCA's are also encouraged to review the options and rates provided by the plan which are specifically tailored to handle their situations.  To view the 2016 rate chart for the NALC plan, click here.  To access the NALC health plan main site, a quick link is in the footer at the bottom of the page, or click here.
